Since August 2007, QRI has received 4 consecutive USACE contracts totaling $5.8M to provide boom maintenance and emergency spill response for the 17th Street, Orleans & London Canals in New Orleans, LA. Each of these three Interim Closure Structures (ICS) handle, store and use oil products in the form of diesel fuel and hydraulic oil in order to run the massive pumps. Incidents and/or common maintenance on these pumps have resulted in 45 task orders since 2007. QRI has consistently taken action to mitigate or eliminate any hazard or damage to the environment resulting from emergency operation, hurricane drills or exercises. Since August 2007, no spill occurring at any of the three ICS facilities resulted in media attention or community concern, fostering good relations between the USACE and area residents.
