Geophysical Technician

This semi-skilled position requires locating all existing underground utility facilities utilizing a wide array of electronic designating equipment to include but not limited to Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic locators and GPS. Position also requires ability to perform Vacuum Excavation (VacEx) and hand excavation as needed. Experience is a plus but is not required.

Reporting and In-Office Technical Skills:

For general communication and office work this position requires familiarity with Word/Excel/Office Software. Training in AutoCAD is a major plus, however the candidate can be trained and must possess the ability to learn in this format. Other vector/raster-based software such as would also be helpful.

Other Key Skills/Knowledge:

Basic knowledge/understanding of subsurface utility construction

Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record, CDL is NOT required

Ability to perform record keeping, daily reports, forms and field sketches, both electronically and as draft by hand

Can perform related duties such as setting up maintenance of traffic as required, making basic field measurements and performing other simple geophysical prospecting as instructed

High School Diploma/GED

Ability to lift 75 lbs.

Ability to work outdoors in all climates

Ability to travel on occasion (out of town/overnight jobs are minimal)

Selected candidates will be required to pass a drug, background and reference screening.

Salary: $18.00 to $25.00 /hour
